November Life Lately

Happy December! It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I've already worn all 3 of my Christmas jumpers, had a Baileys and done pretty much all my shopping so I'm well on my way to getting in the Christmas spirit.

November was super busy! I was out every single weekend so it's not really a surprise that I finished the month battling a monster of a cold! I felt absolutely awful for over a week and to make things worse I had a few days off work which I mostly spent sleeping!

But I did have lots of fun in November. Below is what I got up to and here is my One Second Every Day for the month!

What I did

I'm sure you know that I am obsessed with knitwear, and I'd posted on Twitter a few times about my ridiculous jumper collection, and one of my Twitter pals Sarah suggested I share my collection and #KnitwearNovember was born! While I didn't manage to share a different jumper every day of the month, I did share 20 jumpers throughout the month! You can see them all by going onto the Twitter thread linked above.

November marked our 8 year anniversary (where has the time gone? There's definitely a post somewhere on this blog where I say "I've got a date tomorrow!) so we took Bobby to my parents' for a sleepover and went into town. We had drinks at Arcane before heading to El Gato Negro for tapas, then ending the night at Schofield's Bar which was absolutely amazing! We snagged a seat at the bar and spent the night chatting to the bartender while she made incredible cocktails - definitely our new favourite place.

Last month I also hit my 2021 Goodreads goal of 100 books read, making it the fourth year in a row of 90+ books read. More on what I read in November below.

Some of my days out of the month included a trip to Turf Moor with our friends who are massive Burnley fans. We were very lucky to get a thrilling game with 6 goals against Crystal Palace (although it was such a shame Burnley missed their last minute chance!). It was such a great day out - I definitely want to go again next year! Other great days out in November were a trip to into town with my sister in law and a great night out in Stockport with my best friends.

But the most exciting thing we did in November? We bought a Peloton! Honestly if you'd have told me this last year we'd own a Peloton bike I would have thought you were crazy, but I've absolutely loved using Peloton's digital membership over the last 11 months (I wrote about it here in January) and now it's getting cold and dark in the mornings, I've been enjoying my pre-6am runs a little bit less (plus I'm always scared of falling when it's icy!). We started to talk about it a few weeks ago and went into John Lewis to try it out and we just fell in love! We've only had it for a week and a half (plus I was ill for the first few days we had it!) but we both love it so much already. I'll definitely write a blog post about it soon!

What I read

8 books read in November taking me to 104 for the year so far.

Here's what I read in November:

  • The Quickening by Rhiannon Ward
  • Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield
  • The Disappearance of Stephanie Mailer by Joel Dicker
  • New Animal by Ella Baxter
  • There's No Such Thing as an Easy Job by Kikuko Tsumura
  • Welcome to Your Life by Bethany Rutter
  • Final Cuts by Ellen Datlow
  • Demon by Matt Wesolowski
My favourites were Our Wives Under the Sea and Welcome to Your Life, which I read 85% of in one night with a glass of wine - absolute heaven!

What I watched

Two fantastic new-to-us films in November, 1996's Big Night which we absolutely adored, and Netflix's Tick...Tick...BOOM! which as two musical-lovers was right up our street!

No cinema trips in November (we had to cancel one of our planned trips due to my cold!) but a couple of rewatches of some of our favourite films - Bo Burnham's Inside, The Social Network and Paddington 2.

What I listened to

Two new podcasts in November , Who the Hell is Hamish? and anthology podcast The Opportunist, as well as my usual faves, especially You're Wrong About, Maintenance Phase and Decoder Ring.

What I read online

A LOT from my favourite writer, Anne-Helen Petersen, this month:

I can't believe I'm saying this already, but if I don't blog before, have a fantastic Christmas! I'm looking forward to writing all my end-of-year review posts over the next few weeks!
